This will be a journey of self-discovery, growth and transformation like no other.

This experience is going to be so much more than a yoga teacher training. This is going to be a transformative, life altering, heart bursting healing journey and I cant wait for you dive in!

​We will create a sacred space together where you are safe to immerse yourself with knowledge and practical experience through the teachings of Yoga. Discover the transformative power of this ancient healing practice through a trauma informed lens. Expand on your current abilities and personal practice and watch yourself evolve.

  • Developing Sadhana – foundational discipline for living a yogic life
  • Pranayama( breathing techniques)
  • Shatkriya (Detoxification Techniques)
  • Yoga as therapy: Into to therapeutic yoga and restorative yoga 
  • Trauma informed practices 
  • Introduction to concentration techniques  
  • Traditional Hatha & Hatha Flow
  • Vinyasa (tuning asanas with breathing) – guided and analytical practice
  • Yoga Asans (postures) Guided asanas practice & analytical training focused on following groups of asanas: Standing Asanas, Forward Bends, Back Bends, Twists, Balances, Inversions, Hip Openers
  • Group study and practice teaching

  • Art of teaching: teacher’s qualities , intention & attitude, teaching styles, observation, giving instructions, feedback, sequencing, class management & class routine, principles of demonstration – theory and practice

Yoga philosophy and lifestyle

  • Yoga history: understanding the depths of yoga
  • The study of yoga philosophies: Understanding the relevance of Veda, Upanishad, Bhagavad Gita, Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Tantra & Hatha Yoga Pradipika
  • Interpretation of the 8 limbs of yoga and their meaning in the contemporary world
  • Modern yoga and trauma informed teachings
  • Bhakti Yoga: Mudras, Mantras and Chanting

40 hours*practicum hours are done outside of the scheduled training weekends*

YTT with Sam was a transformative experience for me, one of tremendous growth and healing. I pushed my limits and smashing through my comfort zone that was holding me back from further growth. I found more confidence in myself and my abilities to share of myself to be in service of others and ultimately I grew in ways I didn’t even know I needed to grow. I let go of limiting beliefs and achieved a long desired life goal of becoming a yoga teacher. And I was able to do this all because of the amazing community of souls who came together in the training. Sam is authentic, extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and very real in how she shows up and how she supports everyone, exactly where they are. Under her example and in the sacred space we created and held for each other, we forged a community of caring, support, and healing energy unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The community of women and the relationships I created is invaluable to me on my journey. I am grateful to Sam, and everyone who participated in the training, and all the other beautiful souls from Wilkie who came in to teach us portions of the training and also let us assist in their classes to practice what we were learning. I learned to teach yoga, but even more importantly, I learned to share of myself, give of myself and my passions and my life experiences, so I can be of service to others who may benefit from my authentic self. I have been more open and accepting of myself after completing this training and as I continue down my yogic path, my spiritual journey, I will always be grateful for the experience I had in this training. Something kept drawing me towards the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at Wilkie. Whenever I would go to a yoga class at the studio I would always look at the poster for the training with Sam Wilkie. I had no intention of being a yoga teacher, I was just interested in gaining my own personal practice. Once I began my Yoga Teacher Training everything changed... I began my own personal healing, and most importantly I found a love within myself that I never thought was possible. Once the training came to an end I was so egur to share my passion with others. I could not wait to teach yoga. Wilkie Wellness has provided me with a safe healing space and I am now fortunate enough to share my own passion there. I am forever grateful for this journey that yoga has taken me on.

When I registered for teacher training I had no intention of actually being a teacher. The thought hadn’t even crossed my mind. It was the description of the training.. ‘This is going to be a transformative, life altering healing journey’. I was hooked at ‘life-altering healing journey’. The training did not disappoint. Sam creates the safest of environments. She is knowledgeable, passionate and so incredibly wise. As we reached each milestone in class; presenting our first body scan, guided meditation and then yoga class I didn’t once feel unsure or nervous. I found a confidence in this training that I have always lacked. I surrendered to vulnerability and discovered my authentic self. Five months after the training, I am teaching yoga and I love it, I have found my passion. I am still on my own personal healing journey- I never would have gotten started without the training. I have a soul group of individuals who started this journey with me, and who I can lean on for support. I have found friendship. It truly was a life-altering journey and I would recommend this training to absolutely everyone.

The beauty of the yoga teacher training at Wilkie Wellness was in Sam's ability to model how best to create a safe platform for sharing personal stories and experiences. The training offered a multimodal approach to learning that gently nurtured knowledge and skill development while also encouraging self-reflection, vulnerability, and self-compassion.
