Nikki's Bio
I have always been acutely aware of my desire to help others but it wasn’t until several of my family members were at a loss to find answers for their health issues, the search for alternative options began. In 2011 I was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture and after experiencing acupuncture and herbal therapy myself, I knew I had found the system of medicine I was interested in studying. I was immediately drawn to the way in which TCM and acupuncture combine the intricate science of the body with the art of ancient healing practices.
I attended the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CCTCMA) and received diplomas in Acupuncture and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine after completing 4 years of full-time study. In those 4 years I was able to spend hundreds of hours in the clinic getting first-hand experience treating and observing many patients with a vast range of ailments. Upon the completion of my 3-year acupuncture program I wrote my national and provincial licensing examinations and successfully became a Registered Acupuncturist. I then went on to obtain my diploma of Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and was also given the opportunity in the spring of 2016 to travel to Beijing, China to study at the China Japan Friendship Hospital.
I am excited for the lifetime of learning and growth that Traditional Chinese Medicine offers and have continued my education over the past 5 years with a focus in: Emotional and Psychological wellbeing; Trauma and stress-related illnesses; Women’s health including Pregnancy and Postpartum care, Fertility, Endometriosis and menstrual cycle health.
I began my post-secondary career in the field of education and while it didn’t quite fit, a huge part of my practice focuses on educating my clients. My goal is to help you reconnect to your body and teach you to respond in a way that supports optimal health for you. I believe in the innate intelligence of the human body and that we sometimes just need support to understand the messages our body sends us, whether that be in the form of physical or emotional pain, or disease.
I want to offer our community a holistic and personalized health care option that will always be tailored to the diverse needs of every client. Just as no two people are exactly the same, Traditional Chinese Medicine treats each person based on their unique experiences. I believe it is fundamental to listen to and to build relationships with clients in order to help support healing and growth.
